Pivot with Purpose Launch Event: New Paths in Development and Beyond

On June 18, 2025, Pivot with Purpose formally launched with an opening event of our Seminar Series that outlined this initiative and highlighted opportunities for foreign development professionals who are interested in pursuing new career paths.

This kick-off session featured three leading voices in global development—Rajiv Shah, The Rockefeller Foundation; Steven Radelet, Georgetown School of Foreign Service; and Carla Koppell, Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.

They discussed the rapidly evolving landscape of the international development sector – what has changed, where new opportunities have emerged, and how professionals should navigate a successful pivot into adjacent or entirely new fields – from private sector corporations to philanthropic foundations or even to state and local governments.
